I had to write this before getting warmed up… Yes, warmed up.

We had a serious winter storm yesterday (10/26) that dumped a lot of snow. But the sun had come out in the late afternoon. So this morning when I saw a ‘bright and white’ morning, riding to work became an obviously uninformed obvious choice. Oh, yes, I was all dressed up for the cold, because the temperature read 27F (-3C). But I wasn’t quite prepared for the ice on the road. There was a lot of thin ice layers on the road. On many places, the shoulder was still covered with snow and I had to use the full lane. At the intersection of McCaslin and S. Boulder Rd, I ran into a pile of snow and had to unclip to keep the balance:) On the pedestrian bridge over CO-157 (Foot Hills Highway) between Baseline and Colorado, there was a thick layer of solid ice. Another bicyclist gave a friendly warning (you see, I wasn’t the only nut-case around!) on that.

All in all, it was a fantastic ride. Does not matter a bit that it took nearly an hour instead of the usual 43 minutes!
